Baseball gets going tonight, so why not try to make some predictions (although baseball is incredibly hard to predict)

Mountaineers have 55 regular season games this year, 30 Big 12 games, and were projected to finish 4th in the Big 12. I would say WVU finishes top four in the league (at or better than their prediction) and makes a regional again this year. Projected win total I'll put at 34 and their Big 12 record at 19-11.

WVU's Big 12 slate isn't easy, especially early. They have OSU on the road, Arizona at home, and then BYU at home in their first three series of B12 play. BYU isn't a great team but that's a long trip! Out of the other teams picked to finish in the top six in the league standings, WVU faces four of them (no ASU or TCU).

I expect this team to rely on their depth at the plate, and the pitching will hopefully be better *and deeper* than it was last year, especially towards the end of the year. Names to watch on offense: White, Hussey, Rinehart, Sauve. Names to watch on the mound: Kirn, Meyer, Estridge, Glasscock

First pitch tonight at 6:00 pm from Jacksonville.
