Baffles my mind how UK/WVU aren't in same conference

This is the greatest rivalry that never was in college sports.

-Neighboring states with no professional teams

-Passionate fanbases (I know UK is a bball school and we are more a fball school but still)

-Hatfields and McCoys background

-A great nickname for the rivalry "The Feud"

Not gonna lie, I still am bitter the SEC bigwigs thought Missouri was a better choice because of the TV market. Geographical misfit like us in the Big 12.

The. SEC should have took WVU and UL.....would have been much better

Much better for regional rivals, basketball and the fact that WVU and UL fits the SEC better than TA&M or Missou. I am surprised brother Saban could not impact the votes in favor of WVU. We were very close. VT would have also been a good option but never a BBall contributor.

That crunch you hear is the sound of BBN biting cyanide pills.

Yeah and we would have had built in rivalries with UK, S. Carolina (I like their fan base a lot), and Tennessee ...not too mention an annual game with our good friends down in Athens would be fun.

I will never understand that decision. Missouri is a decent program but nothing to get too excited over that you screw up the geography of the conference. I bet the Ferguson PD had a hand in it.

TV got wind of what was going on and threw their weight around.

You're right. One of my old clients at the time was and still is as far as I know is a seven figure Florida Booster. TIFWIW, but he did say WVU had the votes for SEC membership and then CBS & ESPN told the Commish Mike Slive to add Mizzou instead because of more TV sets in Missouri.

It would be great if somehow the deck could get reshuffled and fix all of the bad geography in college sports today, but TV pays the bills and runs the drill. I can't foresee anything changing that.
