At what point to press the PANIC button?

It's a bit difficult to actually assess what we have this year. Our 3 wins have been dominant victories over lesser opponents, our losses have mostly been blowouts to top tier teams.

I always look at computer ratings, particularly Sagarin predictor ratings. They seem to be really good at predicting wins and losses, especially by this time in the year. Before the TCU gave we were ranked 28th, with the 16th hardest schedule. That schedule rating is sure to improve to top 10.

Sure it sounds weak to say "yeah but we lost to good teams". But it happens to be true, no matter what the value you put on that fact. We may not be a good team - by good team, i mean top 40. But we certainly havent played so poorly that we're in the bottom 40 either. TT is tough, Texas is improving every down it seems, and KState is never easy. We have tough games left against teams who would slaughter bottom 60 opponents. we will see how we do - but it's never wise to hit the panic button without looking at things.. 9-3 is not a possibility. 8-4 would be almost impossible. 7-5 or 6-6 is probable. don't assume we dont have any wins left just because we have laid eggs against some of the best teams in America. Press the panic button once we have lost our 6th or 7th game. Instead of complaining about Holgs, investigate what we've actually done and derive hope from the fact that our worst loss is really okstate. they aren't that bad. 6-6 or 7-5 isnt good enough long term, maybe you sat higher standards, but the truth is that making a bowl with this team and schedule would be an accomplishment. maybe not a great accomplishment, but it would be nice to sneak into a bowl and slaughter them, it would give some hope for 2016.

The trolls and low information fans on our idiot board aren't going to like your post. I agree with you that this we could go to a bowl game and with a win this would be a good year.

Some fans will never adapt to being in a power conference and are getting easier to ignore as time goes on.

Depends on how the team responds.

I agree with you there.
I love the ignore button. Best part is when repeat offenders keep saying totally insane things such as "I hope we lose so we can get a different coach", I only have to see it once.

At what point to press the PANIC button?
The play calling at the end of the first half against TCU may be evidence that it has already been pushed.

Iit all goes to the QB why give out schollys to QB's that cannot even throw correctly. this is the whole bit. why in the first place. it makes one wander if the coaches knows talent at all????!!!!

Please stop with the QB responses we don't know anything about Chugs and Saunders yet. If they don't pan out then by all means say it.

Hell I'm not convinced Sills won't win the position next year if he can grasp the offense.

Back to OP question. I say a loss Saturday against a winnable game with the season basically on the line I think it's safe to say the panic button will be pressed.

If WVU wins you can say WVU has a better football program than Texas. How often did you think you would say that in you lifetime?

Look at Howard's stats coming out of JUCo and tell us what about those stats or film on him indicate he would have problems?

We don't know what other QBs the coaches tried to lure to WVU that didn't come the last few years- or the reasons why they didn't come. We know a respected QB coach left for Manziel U and an offensive coordinator left for more responsibility at UK and more revenue. We know the coaching staff has faced relentless negative attacks from people who hate the coach for taking a job offered that was obviously seen by recruits.

Right now there are two red shirts on the team that may be the next great QB. The coaching staff doesn't want to blow those red shirts now and there's lots of football left to have a good to very good season.

I feel that the WV coaches do in fact recognize talent. It all starts with punctuation, spelling and verb tense. The coaches have a job to do just like the college student must pay attention to detail in order to be credible.
