WVSPORTS.COM Askew-Henry out for season

there's a serious knee injury epidemic in this country. It's like a frequent thing these days, people damaging their ACLs and other ligaments in the knees. Why does this seem to occur so much more? How can we try to prevent it? I swear it seems like knee injuries have become as popular as ankle sprains in recent years.

Seems like Mike Joseph needs to focus more on strengthening the hips and hamstring as I've seen few articles that strong hips and hamstring can help reduce chance of ACL injury.

I can only speak for myself...BUT...I ripped up my PCL in my left leg when I was 25 playing semi competitive football vs ex Canadian College and CFL players. I recovered fairly quickly (a year) and then played another 10 years till I did same to the right knee....for myself I think it happened out of a protectionist move each time while catching the ball and subconsciously trying to protect my body on impact yet in effect only defeating myself...
I'm not sure whether this relates or not but, the game of football as glorious as it is often forces the human body into some pretty darned unnatural positions, whether a lineman, secondary or dynamic O position...I think sometimes it's just luck of the draw...they don'the call it the gridiron by accident....needless to say at 42 last year was it seems my last game. And I can tell you it was absolutely crushing to my psyche, I was the last of my friends to keep on playing, Saturday/Sunday mornings lack for me now bigtime....I feel for Dravon on the sidelines...there is nothing worse IMO than wanting to be out there with your teammates and staring down at a gimpy knee....and you mentioned hips too...well those are now aching almost as much as the knees for this guy lol....

Then again this is likely just an old man wanna be telling his story to those who'll listen lol....these guys now even compared to 20 years ago are tuned up to the max....the best of the best....

Do you honestly think that The S&C staff doesn't do that? Do you think they are stupid?

If there is going to be an injury, not that injuries are good, August is the best time to have one. Not after 5 games like last year.
