That call was complete and total appeasement. Texas Tech had just lost a lineman a few plays before that and the coaches/crowd went bonkers over. This was an attempt by the officials to "appease" the home crowd and home sideline. And I hope it does NOT affect the outcome of Saturday's big game.

I thought call was ticky-tack, too. But I'd rather go overboard for safety than let them rip each other's heads off. Not what Fleming was doing, obviously. But safety is first, even in a violent sport like football.

I'm sure Gibby will figure out how to win the first half with Fleming on the sidelines. And it's a lesson for the other players about where their helmet is with a tackle. Unintentional, of course.
