Not a tough one for me, and I understand some BL posters who don't buy Coach speak, media hype, or players bragging. I just so strongly believe in our kids, our Coaches & our program, and what we have to offer along with how we develop kids who come here; that I'm always an optimist this time of year.
As I mentioned, I do understand those who hate getting their hopes up to start believing, then can only sit and watch helplessly as another promising season goes up in flames. You tend not to forget those, and you guard against your emotions being ripped up like that time and time again. I get that.
But I'd rather go into a season brimming with hope, expecting the best and feeling satisfied when/if it happens. I usually find a way to cope when /if things start unraveling. Honestly guys, nothing substitutes for the thrill of the ride we got in '88 as each win mounted, or the excitement the '93 season with that huge win over Miami, or who could forget the magic of the '08 campaign as we watched our guys soar every week with each National upset all the way up to #2 and on the precipice of playing TO$U for the Crystal football? What a blast!
Alas, each of those promising campaigns ended in heartbreak @ Tempe v Notre Dame, in Jacksonville in the Gator Bowl v Florida, or who cares to remember 13-9... that cold dark December day when we watched our title hopes fade with each Dick Rod pathetic call? But with each new Spring hope's eternal, and I'm energized back to thinking about possibly more glory days ahead.
This year is no different for me. We have a new Dynamic QB, speedy emerging receivers, a talented hungry "O" line, capable seasoned runners and a promised smothering "D". It's enough to get an optimist like me thinking Big 12 Championship, and NCAA Div 1A playoff!
Call me a " glass half full" Eeer!!!!
