I like the idea of the latex foam over memory foam, to hopefully not trap as much heat. The hassle free trial seems great too. I am just worried by the price. Seems too good to be true, for such a low price, which worries me. Anyone try one?

I have not tried a Casper, but considered one with at least a degree of seriousness before finally purchasing a conventional new set from The Original Mattress Factory (which my wife likes and I positively despise).

I'm among those who generally find the notion of purchasing a mattress without having tried it out to be beyond counterintuitive. However, I would have done it this time.....because of price, and the fact I like latex foam.....if my wife hadn't put the kibosh on the idea (she thinks all foams are hot) . Of course, I laid on the set we ended up buying in the store, and mistakenly assumed it would feel comparable to what would be delivered (which it did not).

Anyway, you may or may not be aware that a number of competitors have come to market using a design and distribution model more-or-less identical to Casper. Needle and Tuft and Leesa are two others I've read about.....and I just came across a third recently whose name I can't remember. And if you do a Google search, you'll find more.

You didn't ask for my opinion, but for the money.....and all these companies insist the direct-to-customer model ensure much-lower-than-retail pricing.....I myself think these are pretty good values when contrasted with the high pricing of similarly-designed retail national brands. Their test windows are extensive, and everything I've heard and read indicate returns are pretty simple.

If my wife hadn't said no, I'd probably be sleeping on a Needle and Tuft (priced even lower than Casper) right now.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Thanks a lot for the info.
Think I have it narrowed down to the Leesa or Brooklyn Bedding. Still trying to figure out which would be best for someone who is 250 lbs and very dense, physically. It seems like a lot of these mattress reviews are done by significantly smaller people.

A couple/few years ago I bought a memory foam mattress with memory foam pillow top. I think it ended up being 15" in all maybe, I'd have to look again. I know you're asking about Latex foam but I've honestly never found the memory foam I have to be hot.

It feels like you're laying on a cloud supported by the hand of God. I think it's 4 years old now and is still amazing. I got it from Dynasty Mattress and they kinda show their Tempurpedic equivalent and I found it to be fairly accurate. Had to go on faith since I couldn't try it before hand.

I got a 3" latex topper for my RV and honestly dont' notice any difference regarding heat retention from my memory foam mattress in the house.

One thing that made a HUGE difference for me was that I got Latex pillows. They feel weird at first, bouncy, almost like an inflated balloon, but once you get used to that they are absolutely fantastic.

Not a ghost of a chance

Thanks. I have a memory foam bed now that gets too hot for me. I wonder if yours is a newer foam that doesn't get as hot. My biggest problem is that I bought a really soft bed, because it felt a lot better in the store for 15 minutes. Actually sleeping in it, though, I sink way too far into it. The firm would have probably been a better choice.

I'm pretty sure this is the one I got: (it's been awhile)

It's marketing speak, but it does say that it uses a material in the pillow top to keep it cooler, although it isn't latex.

I bounce around 250 pounds also. You definitely sink into these beds more than normal mattresses but I haven't really had that be an issue with this one.

Everybody is different though, and this mattress could be absolutely the wrong one for you. It was the right one for me though. I thought it felt every bit as nice as the high end iComforts but at a fraction of the price.

I highly recommend the latex pillows. The solid latex, not the ones with chopped up scraps of latex. They are quite a bit more spendy than regular pillows but worth every penny.
