Not sure I even knew the Program existed until they.....along with almost everyone else.....beat Michigan earlier this preseason. Well, lo and behold, I just noticed this morning they actually moved into last night's semifinals of the Marshall Invitational......I mean, the CIT (College Insider Tournament).
Regrettably, they fell to Joedy Gardner's.....well, at least he was their coach a generation ago after getting canned here....Northern Arizona. Not that it matters, but NJIT had beaten New Hampshire, Cleveland State, and Canisius before earning the right to go to Flagstaff (and lose by 7 after being up 12 early in the second half). Had NJIT won, they'd have played Evansville (who beat UT-Martin) in the Finals.
One other bit of trivia coming off last night's game; it drew.....as part of NAU's first ever tournament appearance..... a school-record 5,583 and the locals reportedly stormed the court after the win. BTW, no initial reports of couches being burned in the streets of Flagstaff.
