First of all, I can't stand UVA and love what this must be doing for athletic recruiting. Athletics aside, as a Virginian now (in residence only) this to me is as freaking disturbing as the violent BLM riots. Hate is hate. But the marches will no doubt move to Richmond if or when the city elects to remove the confederate statues that dot the city and line Monument Ave. I live far too close to crime ridden neighborhoods to want to see any race driven marchers to gather here. By the way. AP Hill's statue is at the far corner of my neighborhood. (Personally I hope Richmond decides to keep the statues as it is part of the history of the city as capital of the treasonous rebels.).

So while I pray to God that Trump and his team don't publicly support this racist group as Obama did with the violent BLM, I sure hope he speaks out to the evil of hate in the US. But I doubt he does as that would alienate 1/4 of his base.

I'll condemn any Nazi march as well as any monuments that glorify traitors.

All of the main stream Republicans will condemn this.

I don't identify as a Republican and find your Subject Line offensive. This is what Identity Politics gets you. Thanks, Democrats.

Do you as a mainstream libtard support violent socialist protests?

You could see this kind of backlash coming with all the other race/sex marches/protests that have occurred....and libtards being more than okay with it.

When you single out a 'cause' you exclude others...and the MSM promoted that.

I agree with you for the most part. My wife and I had the conversation today around the toll of the MSM in all this.

while I condemn racist commentgs on either side, it now looks like the antifa movement may have been at the center of some of the violence and were shipped in.

I condemn their message and support their right to say it.

Exactly.

The hypocrisy from liberal celebs and media (not to mention politicians) is also disturbing.

-----------------

The whole BLM movement, at least in my case, has backfired. As a white person I am for equal rights and treatment for all minorities (which will someday be us) but now I feel like that movement is completely comfortable putting all whites in a class of racist who suppress their agenda. If they're gonna lump me with an entire group and force me to pick only one of two sides... ...well, then they just lost one person who was sympathetic to their cause (not their methods).

Hard to tell from the press reports....right ? Odd.

No surprise there.

Usually the protests aligned from the right, are usually peaceful, when you put those from the left, antifa, you will get violence.

" I may not agree with what you say but I will defend with my life your right to say it"........it's too bad that more liberals AND conservatives don't ascribe to this.......these neo nazis are no better AND NO WORSE than black lives matter....why is one scorned and the other praised?

So now one dead. Trump denounced the violence. It will get worse before it gets better

Antifa was beating the cars and disrupting the movement of vehicles. Sounds like they spooked someone who panicked and hit the gas trying to get away.

We spent a few days there on vacation 2 years ago...loved the city, the countryside surrounding it and plenty of friendly people. Feel bad for the locals and law enforcement there tonight. Hope all stay safe.
