In regard to the Big XII and B1G dominating college basketball sure missed the mark.

Perhaps it was the lack of inner conference play, but damn, out of 16 total teams making up the field, there's a chance only the Baylor Bears will make it to the Sweet 16. Kansas still has a shot, as does Michigan, but I don't see any hope for either Maryland or Oklahoma advancing. Smart money says neither will Kansas or Michigan.

Basketball out West has improved in the last couple of years. Gonzaga may be responsible for some of that. I'm glad that UNLV hired Lon Kruger's son as its new head coach. Lon is a fantastic X and O's guy, and I hope that his son is, too. I might know somebody who hired Lon Kruger many years ago. He was always a nice guy when I talked to him back then.

I think the toughness of the conference schedules hurt teams from both leagues

Shame on us for believing the computer models or the human polls during the pandemic. The difference between this season and prior seasons is that the sample size for out of conference games this season was much smaller, so there wasn't enough data to determine a conference's strength or weakness. The Big 12 gave us a hint as to what might come later when it went 4-5 vs. the SEC in its conference challenge series. The B1G won its challenge vs. the ACC, but not by much, so this was a "tell," as well.
