Baylor opens with SMU, are you pulling for Baylor so they help the conference or have you had enough of them and other Big 12 teams to enjoy watching them lose? TCU and Minnesota?

Go SMU and Minnesota! [devil]

I can root for maybe half of the conference teams but I wanna see Baylor and TCU lose every game. Include Oklahoma State and Texas in that. It's not good for the conference but it's difficult to like some teams.

For self-serving reasons, I'm pulling for Baylor. Although TCU had a great year, they also lost a lot of players. Baylor doesn't loose too many and the new QB already has performed well . . . some may say just as good as Petty. For the sake of the Big 12, I hope Baylor makes the college football playoff.

Sorry, Vernon, but this is not the time to be bailing on the conference. WVU left the Big East, but unfortunately we're right back in a similar situation: Our league is the unfairly-targeted scapegoat, and the assault is coming from virtually everyone. In the end that is very bad for all of us in the Big 12, and the only possible remedy is piling up wins.

I understand what Clyde0926 said about how it's difficult to like some teams, but I'm not sure what TCU or Oklahoma St ever did to be lumped into that category.

As it pertains to the sports part of the conference, I love it. We have had one decent season in the Big XII. They ranked us for it? You had to whip the piss out of the guys in the Big East to be ranked. Basketball was about the same. Just finish in the top half of the conference and you'll get a lot of respect.
As a fan? Also love it. It may be because we haven't beaten these other teams enough for them to dislike us, but they do seem to like us. Or at the very least treat us with respect. Something we never got from the fans in the Big East. It appears the conference interacts with the school on a much more equal footing than we ever got in the Big East as well. I don't feel like WVU is the proverbial "redheaded step-child" of the conference.
On an academic standpoint it's odd but it seems we are actually more aligned with the Big XII's way of thinking than we were with the Big East as well. Its almost as if we were always meant to be in the Big XII. God just played a cruel joke on us by moving us half a continent away from our brothers. But as a native WV I think it's only fitting that we have to be so far away from the rest of the family to make a living and survive. Seems to be a microcosm of the people who attend WVU and the people of the state.

I appreciate the BIGXII and the gracious way most fans of the other teams have accepted WV as a member; and I'm glad WV is a member. But, honestly, I just can't get excited about any of the other teams and I don't know why. Just too focused on the Mountaineers I guess.

And Baylor clearly doesn't get "it".

Wow...they sure don't...I understand the necessity for regional play, but they already have that in spades! And one of them is AT Texas St? How many does that 'stadium' hold??? They pulled the same act and went on the road vs U of Buffalo last year...pathetic.

And the neck stretcher put on Trickett last year gives me plenty of hatred for TCU...

Hey, don't sleep on Texas State . . . they could be the next SMU or North Texas, or Rice . . . or crap, nevermind.

If SMU and Minnesota win, this conference is done and we're in deep you know what. Maybe Oklahoma could carry the conference, but I doubt it. The best we could hope for is a Big 12 champ with a one-loss season - to Minnesota or SMU. Can you imagine the discussions on that right before playoff selections?

As much as I hate to say it, we really need Texas and Oklahoma to return to their days of glory.

I think just about every WVU fan wanted to see us go to the SEC. Why? Because we knew being in the strongest conference would make us stronger. No difference here. I'll never root against a Big 12 team in an OOC game.

Every league goes .500 in conference play. The only way for a league to boost its SOS is with OOC wins. I always root for the Big 12 team if it is playing out of conference, even if that team is coached by Asswipe Briles.

I think it's short sighted (please don't take offense) to root against your fellow conference members in OOC games. ESPN will certainly have a big discussion at some point this year how the conferences stack up. And depending on how things go, it could come down to perception for which fourth team gets in the playoff and which one(s) don't. As far as actually hating another Big XII team, I can't really say I hate any of them. Texas Tech would be the closest because of their overall poor fan behavior (search videos on YouTube for fan fights and search news articles). Their coach looks like he should be playing a tennis match instead of coaching football. We need to beat K State. They are the only team in the conference that we haven't beaten in the three years here (except Oklahoma and we got their number in the Fiesta Bowl). Those OOC wins only make us look better when we beat our fellow conference members head to head.

Like all Big XII schools in the non conference games in part because I've never been harassed or bothered at any of the Big XII venues I've been to.

As for Baylor, their ooc slate is a real SEC cream puff November murderers row. They have to at least be willing to leave the state of Texas.

Spend some time with some Baylor Alums and you'll quickly become SMU fans. I root for everyone in the big 12 but gaylor. -the woodlands tx

I agree.

Everybody is all excited that we play OK and Texas every season while I don't give two shits unless they're ranked. So that's to say I enjoy that we'll always have (highly) ranked teams on our conference schedule.....but it's not like I would look forward to PITT or VT games (regardless of their records).

On the OP's topic...... ....I do want Big 12 teams to win all out of conference games.

I always root for every team that's in the conference with WVU for their OOC games because the better than do OOC, the better it looks for WVU when it plays them. So, the Big 12 going unbeaten in non-conference games is great for WVU.

I felt the same way in the Big East when WVU was there.

I want all Big 12 teams to win OOC games. I hope everyone continues to schedule tougher (well, Baylor would need to start) so that can't be a sticking point. That said, I don't have particularly high opinions of a couple of schools. Just seems some take the wrong road in times of "crisis." I think new found success has a couple of schools wanting to stay there as opposed to doing the right thing.

I love the Big 12, like all the teams besides Baylor. I hate Baylor. But I will root for them in the OOC games because it helps the Big 12's image. I cheer for all conference teams in their OOC games including bowl games. Their fans are too cocky for suddenly becoming good after decades of shit football and I cannot stand the holier than thou Art Briles. Same with basketball and their coach, hate him too.

I have had only two teams, one conference and one non-conference, against which WVU plays(ed) that I have wanted to see lose every game they play: Pitt and Moo You!

I want Baylor to be strong when we beat them in Waco. That's going to be one of the real head-turners of the 2015 season.

It's best if we see the conference teams win but if they lose I'll be happy. When I say they I meant TCU and Baylor.

Why do you feel that way about Pitt and VT? Is it strictly because of the shared history, enhanced by geography?

I want everyone in our conference to win all their non conference games. The exception, is Texas. When they play, I want An Ebola covered asteroid to hit Austin.

I'm not in love with the Big XII...it was a novelty for a year or two. Now I just feel like WVU's sticking out there all by ourselves like a sore thumb.

Shared history, yes. ....but also the likelihood of crossing paths (shit talking) with members of their fan bases in places like work or during a social hour (aka at the local bar).

Texas has one of the largest number of fans in the country but I can't think of a single person I interact with that supports the Longhorns. .....not to mention most of the other Big 12 teams (although I do come across OK fans every great once in awhile).

Always want to see Big 12 teams win their OOC games. It is still hard to wrap your arms around the fact that we get to play schools like Texas, Oklahoma, and TCU every year. WVU was dying in the Big East and got saved.
