Sure diminishes the quality of being a bowl game. Or at least makes the few who don't go to a bowl feel like super losers.

Kind of a bookkeeping-type thing, but that's why I was opposed to the 12-game schedule when it passed. With an odd number of games, you had to be at least 6-5 to get a bowl as I'm sure everybody recalls. Once they added the 12th game, and the NCAA told everybody that playing an FCS rent-a-victim every year was OK is exactly when the bowl system went into overkill mode.

Are those losing records after the bowl game? I suspect most of them are 6-6 teams and not 5-7.

Either way, it's more football to watch and reward to the players who bust their asses year round on the field, weight room, etc.

Perfect solution:

8 bowls.

16 teams.



and then the next week



4 bowls

for the 8 winners



and then the next week



2 bowls

for 4 winners



and then the next week

1 bowl for the 2 winners

for national title



All you need is 15 bowl sites so that you don't play at the same place twice. If you aren't in the top 16, you shouldn't be playing in a bowl anyway.



Teams that are 6-7 after losing in a bowl just doesn't make sense.



Other divisions do it. Why not D-1?



Eventually it would draw as much interest and TV eyeballs as March Madness.

And we can avoid this College Football Pretzel committee crap.

Yeah, and who do they make money for? Not the schools. These schools are losing money at these bowl games at an alarming rate and no one seems to care but gripe about rising cost of education. Athletics is contributing to that rise in cost.

Because of the big bowls. Some of the smaller bowls pay out $750k. In the P5, that only translates to $50-75k per team.

Exactly. Yet so many people say we can't have 8 teams in the playoff, too many games. But we can make EVERYBODY play 12 games instead of having TWO teams play one more game. Go back to 11 games, kill the megaconferences, have an 8 team playoff and college football would be a lot better.

If that's the case, the schools certainly have the opportunity to decline the bowl bid.

No one is forcing Central Michigan to play in a bowl that will sell 500 tickets.

The bowl games to date have been .......................boring. The only game that peaks my interest is WV and Miami. Yes................I have pretty much given up made for TV sports unless the Mountaineers are playing. Warez

CFE.... only 2 teams with 5-6 records BEFORE the bowl game. EVERY FBS team with 6 W's got a bowl. Needed 2 more teams to fill out the bowl schedule.

As of today, 12/28 and before any games played today, 20 bowl games have been played; 40 teams. 29 of those teams came out of the games with winning records; 11 teams did not have winning records after the bowl game. There are 4 more teams competing in bowls who could possibly not have a winning record after their bowl game. 15 teams without winning records after completion of bowl games is way too many.
