Throwing deep on 3rd down isn't working, but I think its because Howard and the coaching staff know the limitation we have a QB. As we've seen all season, Howard cannot throw a quick out, drag route, or quick slant with any consistency .... which is exactly the kind of throws you need for those 3rd and short situations. I'm not sure what the solution is outside of continuing to lament on how we have whiffed on any decent QB prospect over the last 4 years. Maybe roll-outs so Howard doesn't have to throw over the line, but that unfortunately eliminates half the field as Howard has no chance of going opposite field with his arm strength. It may just be hopeless.

Howard has one more game to show what he really has.

Big difference between Texas Tech and Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Baylor.

If he has the same issues against bottom level Big12 competition then you have every right to say its hopeless.

It's hopeless as is. Howard has struggled to look good against mostly every team he has played against. It's time to move on. Our run game is our strength, Crest may be able to bring something extra to the read option game, while at least matching Howard's completion percentage.

If you all watched the game..Howard was actually throwing the deep ball very well. 3 long passes should have been TDs, but the receivers dropped them.

I am the first person that said Howard can't throw the deep ball. However, he actually played really well...except the interception pass, that was bad.

I don't disagree, but that has been the exception rather than the rule. Also, I put a lot of fault on him for not getting the dang first down and keeping the drive alive. It's beyond time for him to start making better decisions if we aren't going to yank him.
