Anyone here that was "in the know" then? I was a student and have since only heard historical accounts.
It only took a couple of years to see that the program couldn't compete at the level some wanted. Others were fine to play the Richmonds and Villanovas and just have a nice little team to give them something to do on fall Saturday afternoons.
The some wanted to compete had the budget to invest in Mountaineer football (With the encouragement of the Governor ) and Donnie N and NMF came about.
We are at that same place now. I just don't see the investment coming this time.
