Just a point or two to ponder. Since opening in Atlanta vs. #2 Alabama in 2014....a game we were in and lost just 33-23, WVU has opened with a Power 5 opennent five more times, 6 if you count this year. Four consecutive years against a major rival ON THE ROAD. Va Tech, Maryland, Pitt, and now Penn State. In several of those years WVU was one of the few if not the only team to play at least ten P5 schools in the same year. Tough scheduling especially playing in the gauntlet that is Big 12 football. Bring back opening with Ball St or Middle Tennessee and the like for me. 1 G5 and 1 smaller school like James Madison and one traditional rival would make sense.

If this is true, I would venture to say we would have definitely gotten in to the ACC had Louisville gone to the Big 12 because of our ties to both Florida State and Clemson.
