WVSPORTS.COM West Virginia football coordinators summary

--West Virginia defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley said the kids have been talking a while and feel confident with what they're doing and they need to feel comfortable with the communication aspect of it all.

--Formation is the number one thing and that signals alignment, assignment technique and it helps to show them that how similar that West Virginia and Penn State look like on offense.

--Lesley thinks it's a different approach to the portal side of things and they had a better evaluation to what they were actually recruiting so they'll see if they're ready or not. Anthony Wilson has a willingness to be physical and that's easy to coach a guy that will do that. It also can carry over to other guys.

--Lesley said his play count is going to be zero so his team has to be the ones to go out there and do it. The games are hard because you have to be able to do it in that type of environment and leadership is playing and guys gravitate toward that.

--Everybody goes back to when Charles Woods went down but if you look game one to game two, you have one that was out with a concussion, you lost Hershey McLaurin and others. The second week really got them and he doesn't think it will be the same type of issue in the secondary if something unfolds.

--You have some general ideas based on personnel. What is their best 11 and what does it look like? Is it two-tight end one, back, two back, one tight end but you don't want to go down that rabbit hole too much because then you're chasing ghosts.

--Penn State has really good running backs.

--They'll play four between cornerback and safety but the key is who is going to be five.

--Lesley said they're going to rotate at WILL until they get a feel for who is playing the best or has the hot hand.

--Penn State has a lot of tradition so he would like to think that their fans wouldn't hinder their own offense so the communication isn't as critical there trying to get over the noise.

--The use of the tight end is the biggest difference from Yurich at his previous stops.

--Physicality is something that if you don't do it, it's hard to do it on Saturdays. You're not going live on quarterbacks but overall physicality has been good. You have to work the best you can with pass rushing and blitzing and you have to find ways to creatively tackle.

--West Virginia offensive coordinator Chad Scott said that he doesn't know how the guys are going to come out and react. There could be nerves and how it will turn into production on the field right away. They know what they know but they've all had a lot of time to prepare so there are a lot of minds that can come up with different things and some adjustments to what you haven't seen.

--Scott doesn't have a lot of experience going against Manny Diaz but they've had a lot of time to prepare for it. They can expect to see something different early on but people are who they are and they'll get back to their base.

--Work off what you see and adjust as you go. Show the guys what they've seen multiple times and what they've shown but they have to do what they're great at and works well against what they're bringing to them. It's a lot of unknown but the plan is to stick with what they're great at.

--Scott said when you come out first game with the jitters and anxiety you might get some guys fatigued but they want to keep them fresh in the backfield to get the best version. If one gets hot and gets going they'll stick with the hot hand but the good thing is they're versatile in what they can do so it's an opportunity to get the ball in their hands without handing it to them.

--Third down and long they want to stay out of those situations. They've had a good fall camp and one of the things they've done a good job at is being good on first downs and starting fast and efficient to stay out of negative situations.

--Penn State has a good teams across the board. They have a really good linebacker group and have played a lot of football. The two guys on the edge are really good football players so it is a good time for them to get an opportunity.

--No. 44 and No. 11 are both really good off the edge and blitzing on the Penn State defense.

--There is carry over in simulating the type of environment and situations they'll step into such as scrimmaging at night, going the walk through in the morning and doing a pre-game meal.

--Converting it. That's the most important part on fourth down. You can be more aggressive on going for it and you have to be aggressive to score more touchdowns. When talent is equal, technique wins. There isn't less emphasis on first down, but you can be a lot more relaxed on third down knowing you have another play.

--They've taken the next step in the run game and there is accountability. A great team is one that can go out and run the football when you know they have to and they've been able to do that.

--Between the three of Scott, Neal Brown and Sean Reagan they have a lot of information and even if they do something new it won't stray off from what he's accustomed to doing. The plays they are doing are pretty universal based off whatever they can throw at them to get four plus yards.

--Ideally Scott would love for CJ Donaldson to get 15+ touches but as long as he stays fresh they're going to let him roll. He's been able to play multiple plays consecutively in camp after running the ball.

Five Thoughts>>>> WVU football Fall Camp & beyond...

My Fiver on the finalization of camp and the outlook from the stands right now...

1. Garrett Greene's team. Going into the Spring, I thought it would be Nicco Marchiol's team this Fall. Then, I watched the Spring Game. I know you're not supposed to draw sweeping conclusions from the Spring Game (Brandon Barrett), but the difference between their level of play was striking. Greene gives us a chance. Over our last 3 games with Greene starting at QB, we rushed for 656 yards on 123 carries, 5.33 ypc & 6 TDs with zero lost fumbles. We went 2-1, and Jaylen Anderson averaged a staggering 9 ypc on 26 rushes. I have no idea what Neal Brown was doing with three statues at QB over his first 4 seasons (Kendall, Doege, Daniels), but now, all of the sudden defenses are going to need to account for our QB on zone-read and mesh principle plays. This will not only open up running lanes behind a veteran and stout OL, but will help WRs in RPO situations. My concerns are his two-INT performance vs. K-State, and the fact he was knocked out at Oklahoma State. But, I will say this - he's ready. He wants to be the Man in the Arena, he's an Alpha Dog, and he's about to get his chance to etch his name in Mountaineer lore, forever.

2. Anthony Wilson is your starter, folks. Look, I'm sure Marcis Floyd is a great kid. But, he is the anti-Barrett Green. He shied away from contact, and sometimes was just flat out lost out there. Now, we bring in a strong safety with a ton of experience, and a kid who models himself after Karl Joseph. Hearing great things about his play from Camp. Let's hope we now have a suitable running mate for our All-Conference level free safety, Aubrey Burks.

3. DEEFNSE will determine our fate. As the season draws near, and the Nittany Lions are on the horizon, I can't help but think about our defense and their inability to get stops last season. Our offense is going to be built this year to shorten football games. Remember, the clock will not stop this year after first downs. So, if we grind the ball out on the ground, hit a few intermediate passes, move the chains, we can tremendously shorten football games and hang around, hang around all game. Unless...our defense is unable to stop other teams. If our "D" is once again subpar, we're not built to play from behind. We don't need to be 1996 WVU again, but I would take 2014 WVU with KJ Dillon, Karl Joseph, Shaq Riddick, Terrell Chestnut and crew. Cause for optimism>>>> After a humiliating 2013, Dana decided to go full contact in all practices leading up to the 2014 season. Scrimmages were nasty, Karl Joseph was going up against Kevin White in the Oklahoma drill, causing Tony Gibson to say that "the Mountainlair shook' when they crashed pads. And when we came out vs. Alabama in Atlanta, we were ready to go. This offseason, after an embarrassing "D" in 2022, Neal Brown went full contact in all practices, letting the team hit fully without limitations all Camp. This is the best news which came out of camp, other than Anthony Wilson. See #5 below.

4. We are going to have a multitude of opportunities to take the lid off of opposing defenses this season. Penn State, and others, are going to stack the box until we prove that Garrett Greene and these WRs are a legit threat to go long, even intermediate, consistently. Spotlight on Devon Carter. I'm expecting big things. Ditto our JUCO 2nd year guys in Cortez Braham and Jeremiah Aaron. Whispers that Jaheim White is taking snaps at slot are music to my ears - Darius Reynaud Part Deux. Don't discount our four-star TE in Kole Taylor - I think he's going to be in for a huge role in '23, and not much has been said about him. But, a 6'7" TE with ball skills is a big, big safety net. We just need that burner who can scare opposing defenses. And, that's why we got the Horton kid from Marshall (who Prime wanted).

5. I'm heading to Happy Valley, PA Friday morning. And I'm going there to watch WVU win a football game. Look...Penn State has more talent. No doubt. I'm dumb, but I'm not that dumb. But....Penn State has a TON of pressure. My goodness, I've been listening to the prognosticators lately all over the media, and this Penn State team's Legend grows by the day. I'm shocked that they are not preseason #1. And poor little ol'WVU doesn't stand a chance. That's the message being replayed, over and over, this August. This gives WVU an edge in motivation. Make no mistake about it, these kids are going to be ready to chew glass next weekend, and Penn State, by and large, is expecting a walkover. And, if we survive the first few series - particularly if we take the lead into the 2nd QTR...that horrific stadium and crowd will get antsy. We are going to have a team, if the Defense can rise to the occasion (#3 above), which can make a team like Penn State very uncomfortable. CJ Donaldson plowing for a first down on 3rd-and-1 behind our All-American center. Kole Taylor catching a play-action pass in the flat, first down on a 2nd-and-8, Garrett Greene keeping the ball and picking up a first down off a broken play. The chains move, the clock keeps ticking, the game shortens, the natives become restless. We are going to need to play mistake free football. We are going to need to tackle in open space. We are going to need to hit a big play, snatch a big turnover, and we will be right in this thing.

I'm not guaranteeing a win Saturday. But, I am saying we can win. I'm not sold on the despondency. I'm not sold that we're dead in the water. Yes, we're little old West Virginia going North to the Valley to where Angels fear to tread. But, we are going to be worthy of the fight and the stage. Draw your swords, boys.

Let'em hear us coming! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!

WVSPORTS.COM West Virginia head coach Neal Brown press conference summary

--West Virginia head coach Neal Brown says game week is finally here and it's what it's all about. Great venue.

--Brown has a ton of respect for James Franklin. They are multiple and can run the football against pretty much anybody and the strength is their offensive line. Two tackles that will be draft picks and one might be the first taken and the running back room is special as well as fast and big. Their center makes the whole thing go. Not sure who will they see at quarterback. Drew Allar played last year and he proved himself. They lost a lot of wide receivers but they are talented and they added a lot of speed. On defense, Manny Diaz is one of the most talented defensive groups they will play. They have nine draft picks on their defense and that's not him being conservative. They will play man coverage and mix a lot with zone pressures. Their defensive line is good and they are quick and can move. They have four guys that will play at safety and two returning starters, while the King kid at corner will be a first round pick. Replacing all of their specialists but they'll be good. It's about getting ready to go play in a tough venue. They started prep last week and got really focused and sharpened the game plan.

--Brown said if you look at it offensively the strength of the team is the offensive line and they have to win those battles in one-on-one situations. They've got to win there and break tackles because they can really run and get to it. Defensively they have to win in some coverage matchups. As talented as they are they have to be able to cover them and be able to tackle in one-on-one opportunities.

--Watch a bunch of high school to prepare for Drew Allar. He is talented, big kid that is more athletic than he gets credit for. He has a huge arm and whoever starts will be making their first start so they need to make it tough on him.

--Brown said no, they won't announce a starting quarterback publicly prior to the game.

--All the preparation is sped up because they have to go on the road and play in a loud venue. It's their first game and they have to be ready to go. They've pressed on the gas and tried to be super physical and they don't have the benefit of the doubt.

--Going to be first game mistakes on both sides and West Virginia needs to take advantage of those.

--You have to eliminate the errors and have belief to pull off an upset. You have to have belief in the plan and the people around you heading into it. You can't do things that get you beat whether that's turnovers, penalties and missed assignments. Then you have to make plays either on 50/50 balls or returns or plays on third or fourth down you have to make your fair share. You have to hang in there to put yourself in position to win in the fourth quarter.

--All of the transfers but one or two will be a real factor in the game. Several will get their first start with us. Beanie Bishop and Devin Carter it won't be too big for them.

--Anytime you play on national television it's an opportunity. It's a challenge but it's up to them to make the most of it. Each team is different but anytime you go and you're a double digit underdog and go against a highly ranked opponent there has to be some things go your way but you have to have a good football team. It's hard to stand on a soap box before you go play a game. He likes the group and they're going to play hard and do it the right way. He is looking forward to watching them.

--Everybody that you think might play they're going to play. That's as good of a view as he can on the depth chart and remaining position battles.

--Traylon Ray has been sick and out but it will depend on how he practices.
--Robinson 44 he's special he is going to be a first round pick, Carter the linebacker he is wearing the same number as Micah Parsons and he is a freak.

--Backgrounds are similar a lot of the same pass concepts are similar between West Virginia and Penn State's offense. They lost some receivers and a good tight end but they've been able to replace them. They have a lot of talent so it's not a question mark to them at wide receiver. Brown thinks they'll be able to give their defense a pretty good look.

--Brown thinks you can put your guys in as many situations as you possibly can but until you get in a game you just don't know for some people.

--Brown said there are a couple guys that are question marks with injuries as far as guys that won't be playing he doesn't have any starters that won't be playing.

--Brown said it needs to be across the board and mandate depth charts and mandate injury reports for the games. He would be in favor of that. But until everybody does it, it's not fair and balanced. That's the way it should be done. They're moving more and more toward a professional model.

--Singleton and Allen, the running backs for Penn State, play off each other great. Singleton you don't see the speed and the strength combination and his lower body is so strong and when he gets into the open field he can break one tackle and go to the house. Allen is really talented and versatile.

--Physical camp and West Virginia wide receivers are a group that's going to be challenged. The guys they need to make plays have been solid in camp and he's comfortable. They'll play six to eight.

--They've been as physical as they've been and tackled as much as they can. That's led to some friendly fire with backups getting dinged up but it's what they needed to do.

Democrats are destroying our country

LINK: Burisma's Devon Archer met with then-Secretary of State Kerry just weeks before Shokin was fired

Coker Biden’s former business partner and fellow Burisma board member, Devon Archer, met with then-Secretary of State John Kerry just weeks before the Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating Burisma was fired in 2016.

Former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired on March 29, 2016, less than four weeks after Archer met with Kerry at the State Department in Washington, D.C., according to a State Department email.

"Devon Archer coming to see S today at 3:00pm - need someone to meet/greet him at C Street," reads the redacted email on March 2, 2016, which was previously released via the Freedom of Information Act.

Archer meet/greet

Fox News Digital can confirm that "S" refers to Kerry, based on multiple other email communications. However, it is unclear what Archer and Kerry discussed at the meeting or whether Burisma came up in conversation.

At the time of the meeting, Archer and Coker Biden had been sitting on the board of Burisma for about two years, and then-Vice President Pedo-Joe had recently wrapped up a trip to Ukraine where he threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid if Ukrainian officials didn’t fire Shokin, claiming he was too lax on prosecuting corruption.

When the email was first released in 2019, Sens. Grassley, R-Iowa and Johnson, R-Wis., expressed concerns about the meeting and sent a letter to then-Secretary of State Pompeo requesting all records from the meeting in addition to other meeting, including Coker's 2015 meeting with Blinken.

During an interview Saturday with Fox News' Brian Kilmeade, Shokin said he was fired at Pedo-Joe's insistence because of his investigation into Burisma – a claim the White House has disputed.

"I have said repeatedly in my previous interviews that then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko fired me at the insistence of the then-Vice Pedo-Joe because I was investigating Burisma," Shokin said in the interview.

"Poroshenko understood and so did Vice President Pedo-Joe that had I continued to oversee the Burisma investigation, we would have found the facts about the corrupt activities that they were engaging in. That included both Coker Biden and Devon Archer and others."

However, in a statement to Fox News, the White House pointed to indications that Shokin was fired because he had been too soft on corruption.

The White House also stated that Shokin's office had not been investigating Burisma or Coker at the time of his ouster in March 2016, and it pointed to three reports published within weeks of each other in 2019 by the Washington Post, Associated Press and New York Times that said Shokin's office wasn't investigating Burisma.

Archer said in a closed-door interview with the House Oversight Committee in July that, amid pressure from Shokin's office and other entities investigating Burisma, company leaders turned to Coker for help.

He went on to say that Coker and Burisma executives "called D.C." in December 2015, just days before the vice president’s trip to Ukraine, to ask the homObama administration to help get Shokin fired.

Burisma executive Vadym Pozharsky emailed Coker Biden, Archer and fellow Coker associate Eric Schwerin in early November 2015 about a "revised proposal, contract and initial invoice for Burisma Holdings" from lobbying firm Blue Star Strategies. Coker reportedly connected Burisma with Blue Star Strategies to help the energy firm fight corruption charges levied against Mykola Zlochevsky, the company's owner.

Pozharski said in his email that the "ultimate purpose" of the agreement with Blue Star Strategies was to shut down "any cases/pursuits against Nikolay in Ukraine," referring to Zlochevsky, who also went by Nikolay.

"The scope of work should also include organization of a visit of a number of widely recognized and influential current and/or former US policy-makers to Ukraine in November aiming to conduct meetings with and bring positive signal/message and support on Nikolay's issue to the Ukrainian top officials above with the ultimate purpose to close down for any cases/pursuits against Nikolay in Ukraine," Pozharsky continued.

This wasn't the first time that a Burisma board member met with a top State Department official in the middle of a growing pressure campaign to help protect Zlochevsky and Burisma from investigations. In May 2015, Hunter and then-Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken were exchanging emails about setting up a meeting at the State Department. After the first scheduled meeting, which appeared to have been canceled due to the death of Coker's brother, Beau, the pair rescheduled and met in July 2015.

Coker forwarded Archer a couple of the email exchanges between Coker and Blinken about planning for the first meeting, prompting Archer to respond, "Roger," in one reply.

"12:00-1:30pm- Lunch with Tony Blinken (State Department)," Hunter's schedule reads. "Enter at main entrance ('Diplomatic Entrance'), 22nd & C St, NW. Proceed to receptionist area where Kenny Matthews will be waiting to escort you to Tony's office."

The longtime Biden family friend and business partner, who is facing jail time in an unrelated case for his role in a $60 million bond fraud scheme, worked as an adviser to Kerry during his failed 2004 presidential campaign.

Kerry now serves as Pedo-Joe's special presidential envoy for climate (SPEC).

In 2013, Archer exchanged emails with Kerry’s then-chief of staff at the State Department, David Wade, organizing a call between Kerry and then-Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yerlan Idrisov.

"Devon: understand you spoke to the Secretary re having him call Foreign Minister Idrisov today, can you let me know topics Idrisov wants to talk about/any requests he'll have of the boss, so we can get paper prepared for a call," Wade wrote.

Archer told Wade that Idrisov wanted to speak with Kerry about keeping open a direct line of communication between the two of them as well as brief him on a "subject as it relates to Afghanistan."

Wade went on to advise Coker on rapid response related to Burisma after leaving the State Department in June 2015, Fox News Digital previously reported.

Archer co-founded Rosemont Seneca Partners with Coker and Kerry’s stepson, Christopher Heinz, his Yale roommate, in 2009.

In a 2012 email chain, when then-Sen. Kerry was serving as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Archer listed him as one of his top references for Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners (RSTP) after one of the firm's partners told Archer and Coker they needed their "bazooka references."

An individual with knowledge of the reference list told Fox News Digital they were not aware of Kerry ever vouching for RSTP or its clients. The individual, who requested anonymity, went on to say that Coker and Archer's role was to help navigate Washington but also said they would sever ties with Coker after he was kicked out of the Navy Reserve for cocaine in late 2014 and that Archer's position was cut the following year because he wasn't doing any work for RSTP.

The State Department and Archer’s lawyer did not respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

Family of Marine Killed In Afghanistan Forced to Pay $60,000 Bill Thanks to Biden Pentagon Policy Change

Inside the Marine Corps' Fight with Fox News over a False Gold Star Family Story

The Marine Corps worked behind the scenes last month in an attempt to convince Fox News to retract its false story claiming a Gold Star family was forced to pay $60,000 to ship the remains of a Marine killed in Afghanistan, according to emails obtained by Military.com.

A service spokesman notified the news network that it was pushing an incorrect story and accused it of using the grief of fallen Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee's family to draw in readers, the email exchanges, released through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request, show. Fox News eventually deleted the story with no correction, and it never reached out to the Gee family with an apology as the Marine Corps requested, the family said.

"Crazy Commie-la Harris" says America experiencing 'epidemic of hate' after Florida Dollar General shooting

Just think...If Pedo-Joe would happen to win, this idiot will be running our country. Let that sink in. If Pedo-joe wasn't a disaster, here comes Commie-la

Democrats are lunatics. "The Hawaii fires are proof of a Climate emergency!"

Then Commie-la says: "Many Black Americans live every day with the fear of becoming victims of "hate-fueled gun violence" in response to a gunman in Florida opening fire in a Dollar General and killing three Black people."

Strangely, nary a word from any Democrat about black people being killed in Blue cities every day and it has nothing to do with her socalled "epidemic of hate"...What is she insinuating? You know...We all know. It's what Democrats do. And of course, she wants to ban AR-15s, which didn't work the last time they were banned for 10 years. Speaking of which, Pedo-Joe took credit for, when actually the only thing he did was vote for it. He had nothing to do with the bill. The guy is a lying plagiarist.

Then, of course, we have Poopy-Pants Pedo-Joe start with his white supremacy cries, forgetting that he HIMSELF is a racist.

If white supemacy is what's murdering black folks, then, please, explain this chart. The bottom line is, we have criminals doing what criminals do and Democrats couldn't care less. Those pesky facts always punch these idiotic Democrats in the mouth.

Democrats, their policies and their bleaters are destroying our country

LINK: Gunman Ryan Christopher Palmeter, 21, killed three Black people in what the Jacksonville sheriff called a 'racially motivated' attack

Vice President Crazy Commie-la Harris said Sunday that many Black Americans live every day with the fear of becoming victims of "hate-fueled gun violence" in response to a gunman in Florida opening fire in a Dollar General and killing three Black people.

Ryan Christopher Palmeter, 21, arrived at a Dollar General in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday with an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, Glock handgun and tactical vest. Palmeter then shot and killed three victims in what Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters described as a "racially motivated" attack.

On Sunday, Crazy Commie-la Harris released a statement about the shooting in which she condemned hatred and violent extremism in America, and said that Black people are often concerned about racially motivated gun violence against them when they leave their homes.

The vice president pointed out that the shooting Saturday afternoon was happening as many Americans were celebrating the anniversary of the March on Washington, the 1963 march by activists demanding civil and economic rights for Black Americans.

"Already, federal law enforcement has opened a civil rights investigation into this attack and is treating it as a possible hate crime and act of domestic violent extremism," Crazy Commie-la Harris said.

"As we allow that investigation to proceed, let us continue to speak truth about the moment we are in: America is experiencing an epidemic of hate," she continued. "Too many communities have been torn apart by hatred and violent extremism. Too many families have lost children, parents, and grandparents. Too many Black Americans live every day with the fear that they will be victims of hate-fueled gun violence—at school, at work, at their place of worship, at the grocery store."

Crazy Commie-la Harris also urged congressional lawmakers to ban assault weapons and pass "other commonsense gun safety" measures.

"Every person in every community in America should have the freedom to live safe from gun violence," she said.

The victims of the shooting on Saturday were 52-year-old Angela Michelle Carr, 19-year-old Anolt Joseph Laguerre Jr., and 29-year-old Jerrald De’Shawn Gallion.

According to officials, Palmeter was once involved in a 2016 domestic violence incident and was once involuntarily committed to a mental hospital for examination. Images of the shooting shared on the sheriff’s Facebook page also show white lettering and symbols painted on the gunman's AR-15 rifle, including what appears to be a swastika.

Waters addressed calls for firearm bans in a news conference held Sunday afternoon.

"The story's always about guns. People are bad," he said. "This guy's a bad guy. If I could take my gun off right now and lay it on this counter, nothing will happen. It'll sit there. But as soon as a wicked person grabs ahold of that gun and starts shooting people with it, there's the problem. The problem is the individual."

Pedo-Joe also released a statement Sunday decrying White supremacy.

"Even as we continue searching for answers, we must say clearly and forcefully that white supremacy has no place in America," Poopy-Pants Pedo-Joe said. "We must refuse to live in a country where Black families going to the store or Black students going to school live in fear of being gunned down because of the color of their skin. Hate must have no safe harbor. Silence is complicity and we must not remain silent."

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, also a Republican presidential candidate, called the shooter a "scumbag" in remarks on Saturday.

"This shooting, based on the manifesto they discovered from the scumbag that did this, was racially motivated," DeSantis said. "He was targeting people based on their race. That is totally unacceptable."

Not one.

A bombshell report released during Mike Lindell’s Election Summit in Springfield, Missouri, last week lays out compelling evidence showing the 2020 election was stolen, including corrupted voting tabulators in key swing states.
