I would normally be incredibly angry

about a terrible, terrible loss. There can be no excuse. But what I feel is a bit of sadness for Josh and his staff. Did Wren make a mistake in not hiring a permanent replacement even though the timing was horrible and the candidate field pretty sparse? I honestly don't know. I think Beilein would have been the one option that most of Mountaineer Nation would welcome but was the price too high?

And the absolute turmoil around the program caused by Huggs' drinking problem is certainly not Eilert's fault. Not only did we lose a lot of players to transfer, but the NCAA has helped to sideline Silverio, Battle, and Kriisa. No way we lose if those guys are playing. They could help overcome mediocre to poor coaching. And we lose Perez to a ridiculous decision on Perez's part. Then we lose Akok, which is a huge blow inside and at the 4. I have never before seen this kind of bedlam in a program at WVU. And Josh has to try and overcome that to keep his job.

I don't know what is going to happen to Battle, although the pressure on the NCAA is growing. And we get Kerr back in the 10th game. Akok is still deciding if he is going to play again. If we get all 3 back, I think this team can be respectable even if the coaching is not very good. If it goes south, I really hope that Josh does not lose the team.

I have gone from thinking we could potentially be a final four team to hoping we don't collapse and make a fool of ourselves. And this is all on Huggs.

Interesting Topic

Had a conversation with a friend that bought up an interesting topic. Has WVU football been subject to getting its signs taken and used against the team? We know Boy Scout Neal is not taking them but what about others? Neal said he wants electronic communications like the NFL recently.

I mean I’m sure Minnesota knew our signals in the bowl game a few yrs ago. We know Doc had our signs at Marshall but I still wonder if the Big 12 has had this issue?

Doctor health question...

Got a question...

Having sharp pain from upper left quadrant of lower back. Pain travels down from that region to the upper left leg. Feeling the sensation the urinate but not really needing to release. When I do urinate, no indications of pain, burning sensation and no blood coming out. No nausea, vomiting, and fever. Did have chills and lightheaded. This has been going on the last two days with usually coming up when I am asleep at night time to now needing to get up. The only way to alleviate has been to pace back and forth, stretch, take acetaminophen and drink fluids. I have been up since 3:30 AM to now being about 5ish AM. Currently, feeling like the symptoms have dissipated for now. Similar to the day before.

Thought it was back issues to which I had going on the week before and visited the chiropractor a few times. Typically, a few trips to the chiropractor addresses any neck and lower back issues. However, that isn't the current case as this same feeling has been going on for two days now.

Looking for suggestions here. Does this sound like kidney stones perhaps? I haven't had kidney stones in like 30 years.

Trying not to go to ER to see if I can hold out until Monday for the family physician UNLESS it becomes unbearable. Plan for right now is to finally go back to sleep and then when I wake up, go buy some Ibuprofen and get more fluids.

Punting and punt return units

I curious to the evolution of punting over the years. I’ve seen two major changes in strategy.

1 - I never see a coffin corner punt anymore. They just float it high and run under it.

2 - returners don’t seem to let them go if they are inside the 10. Used to be they put their heals on the 10 and only field it if it was in front. Now they seem to field it all.

Does anyone know the reasons for these changes? Team speed? Punters hang time? Just a Random thought.
