MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team was represented at the Midsummer Classic for the first time ever, while several Mountaineers continue to work their way up the ranks of professional baseball. Check out how 24 WVU alums are faring at the next level.

David Carpenter, RHP – Nashville Sounds (Class AAA – Texas Rangers)
David Carpenter has logged 32 innings with the Nashville Sounds this season, striking out 36 and allowing just six earned runs. The veteran right-hander has posted 18 saves for the Sounds in 2019 and holds an ERA of just 1.69. He allowed one earned run in the entire month of July, and he hasn't blown a save opportunity yet this season. Carpenter also logged one outing at the Major League level for the Texas Rangers back in June.

Kyle Davis, OF – Southern Illinois Miners (Frontier League)
Kyle Davis is hitting .252 in 62 games for the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League. He has clubbed 10 homers and 32 RBI, as well as 16 doubles and two triples on the year. Davis also has scored 38 runs and owns a slugging percentage of .470.

Chad Donato, RHP – Corpus Christi Hooks (Class AA – Houston Astros)
Chad Donato advanced to Class AA Corpus Christi earlier this month and owns a 1-1 record with an ERA of 3.76 in five appearances (four starts). He has tossed 26.1 innings for the Hooks, striking out 27 while issuing just four walks. Opponents are hitting just .223 against Donato, who previously made 13 starts for the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Class A – Advanced).

Billy Fleming, 2B – Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Class AA – Miami Marlins)
Billy Fleming is hitting .344 in 18 games with the Jacksonville Jumbo Baby Shrimp this season. In 61 at-bats, Fleming has collecting 21 hits, including five doubles and two homers. The six-year pro also has spent time in Class AAA for two different organizations. Most recently, he played 18 games with the New Orleans Baby Cakes in June, hitting .235 in 34 at-bats.

Jimmy Galusky, SS – Schaumburg Boomers (Frontier League)
Jimmy Galusky has played in 36 games for the Schaumburg Boomers this summer and holds a batting average of .217. He has hit three homers and 15 RBI on the year, and he has registered 14 runs scored.

Ivan Gonzalez, C – Great Falls Voyagers (Rookie, Advanced – Chicago White Sox)
Ivan Gonzalez debuted with the Great Falls Voyagers on July 29, going 1-for-4 with a double. In 10 games in the Arizona Rookie League, Gonzalez hit .459, with 17 hits in 37 at-bats. He also collected eight RBI to go along with his four doubles.

Kyle Gray, 2B – Tampa Tarpons (Class A, Advanced – New York Yankees)
Kyle Gray advanced to the Tampa Tarpons in mid-July after playing in 82 games with the Charleston RiverDogs (Class A) this summer. In 10 games in Tampa, Gray has hit .257 with a double, three runs scored and four RBI in 35 at-bats. Previously, he hit .236 in Charleston, supplying plenty of production with five homers, 15 doubles, 47 runs scored and 38 RBI.

Michael Grove, RHP – Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Class A, Advanced – Los Angeles Dodgers)
Michael Grove is 0-4 with an ERA of 6.18 for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes this season. He has pitched in 18 games, all starts, registering 43.2 innings pitched. Grove has 62 strikeouts on the year and has walked just 16 batters. In his last outing, Grove struck out five in three innings against the Stockton Ports. He allowed no runs on five hits.

Jedd Gyorko, INF – Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB)
Jedd Gyorko was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31. Prior to that, he had been limited to just 62 plate appearances for the St. Louis Cardinals while battling multiple injuries this season. Gyorko will arrive to L.A. with a pair of home runs and seven RBI on the year.

Darius Hill, OF – Eugene Emeralds (Class A, Short Season – Chicago Cubs)
Darius Hill is slashing .302 in 18 games with the Eugene Emeralds this season. After debuting on July 6, Hill has recorded 30 hits, 12 runs scored, four doubles, a triple, a home run and 13 RBI. He also has recorded seven multi-hit efforts this month.

Garrett Hope, C – AZL Dodgers Lasorda (Rookie – Los Angeles Dodgers)
Garrett Hope has played in three games on a rehab assignment with AZL Dodgers Lasorda of the Arizona Rookie League. Hope has three hits in seven at-bats, two of which have sailed over the wall for home runs. Previously, he played for the Great Lakes Loons (Class A) in 2018.

KC Huth, OF – Cleburne Railroaders (American Association)
KC Huth is hitting .293 in 56 games for the Cleburne Railroaders this summer. He has four homers, 10 doubles and a triple to go along with his 34 RBI and eight stolen bases. Huth has scored 33 runs and 55 hits on the year.

Chase Illig, C – Staten Island Yankees (Class A, Short Season – New York Yankees)
Chase Illig debuted with the Staten Island Yankees on July 26, going 1-for-2 with a double and run scored. He also registered a pair of walks. Illig spent most of the month playing in the Gulf Coast Rookie League.

Sam Kessler, RHP – GCL Tigers West (Rookie – Detroit Tigers)
Sam Kessler has appeared in nine games in the Gulf Coast Rookie League to begin his pro career. He has logged 11 innings, earning 13 strikeouts. Kessler has allowed four earned runs on eight hits in that spurt, compiling a 1-1 record and 3.27 ERA.

Alek Manoah, RHP – Vancouver Canadians (Class A, Short Season – Toronto Blue Jays)
Alek Manoah made his professional debut with the Vancouver Canadians on July 27, tossing one scoreless inning against the Spokane Indians. He allowed a hit and struck out a pair in 15 pitches.

Ryan McBroom, 1B – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Class AAA – New York Yankees)
Ryan McBroom is slashing .317 with 18 home runs and 43 RBI for the SWB RailRiders this season. A Triple-A All-Star, McBroom holds a slugging percentage of .558. He has tallied 101 hits, including 23 doubles. The six-year veteran ranks No. 6 in the International League in batting average among qualified hitters.

John Means, LHP – Baltimore Orioles (MLB)
John Means is 8-6 with an ERA of 3.12 for the Baltimore Orioles this season. In 21 games pitched and 17 starts, Means has claimed 78 strikeouts while allowing 34 earned runs in 98 innings. Earlier this month, Means represented Baltimore at the 2019 MLB All-Star Game, WVU's first all-star in program history. Means allowed three runs in 3.1 innings of work in his last outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 24.

Harrison Musgrave, LHP – Albuquerque Isotopes (Class AAA – Colorado Rockies)
After a stint on the injured list, Harrison Musgrave has logged 15.1 innings for the Albuquerque Isotopes this season. He has registered 14 strikeouts in 13 appearances, compiling an 0-1 record. Earlier this season, Musgrave pitched 10 games for the Colorado Rockies, holding an ERA of 3.60.

Zach Reid, LHP – Washington Wild Things (Frontier League)
Zach Reid has made three appearances for the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League this summer. Reid hasn't allowed an earned run in four innings of work, striking out one and giving up three hits. On July 27, he pitched two scoreless innings against the Schaumburg Boomers.

Jackson Sigman, RHP – Rocky Mountain Vibes (Rookie, Advanced – Milwaukee Brewers)
Jackson Sigman was assigned to the Rocky Mountain Vibes on June 14. In 15 games, he has a 4.60 ERA with a pair of saves. Sigman has struck out 23 in 15.2 innings, while issuing just six walks. He also played in 11 games with the River City Rascals of the Frontier League this season.

Nick Snyder, LHP – Hillsboro Hops (Class A, Short Season – Arizona Diamondbacks)
Nick Snyder has made three appearances for the Hillsboro Hops this summer. In three innings pitched, he has three strikeouts, two walks and has allowed just one hit and no runs. Snyder, who last pitched on July 28, is 1-0 on the campaign.

Kade Strowd, RHP – Aberdeen IronBirds (Class A, Short Season – Baltimore Orioles)
Kade Strowd hasn't allowed an earned run in eight innings pitched for the Aberdeen IronBirds this summer. In five appearances (one start), he has nine strikeouts and has allowed nine hits and three walks. In his last outing, Strowd pitched two innings of scoreless ball against the Lowell Spinners on July 25.

Corey Walter, RHP – York Revolution (Atlantic League)
Corey Walter is 4-3 with a 5.71 ERA for the York Revolution this season. He has pitched in 52 innings, earning 18 strikeouts. He has made 10 starts for York, allowing 33 earned runs.

Brandon White, OF – Orem Owlz (Rookie, Advanced – Los Angeles Angels)
Brandon White is hitting .255 in 31 games with the Orem Owlz this summer. In 106 at-bats, the speedy outfielder has 27 hits, including five doubles and three triples. White also has stolen five bases on nine attempts this season. White, who has 18 runs scored, is riding a six-game hit streak heading into August.
