WVU Release West Virginia Golf Leads After Day One

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (April 15, 2024) – The West Virginia University golf team leads the Mountaineer Invitational after 36 holes of play at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.



West Virginia shot rounds of 285-285 and is 6-under-par with 18 holes to go. West Virginia was the only team in the 16-team field to shoot under par in each round.



Junior Max Green leads WVU at 6-under-par (68-72) and is in second place. Marshall’s Tyler Jones has a one-stroke lead over Green. Carson Kammann shot 71-68 (-5), Jackson Davenport posted rounds of 71-69 (-4), Pierce Grieve shot 72-70 (-2) and Todd Duncan posted rounds of 71-71 (-2). Kammann is tied for third place, Davenport is in fifth place and Grieve and Duncan are tied for sixth place.



Harrison Thompson is tied for 13th place with rounds of 74-73 (+3) and Oli Ménard is tied for 17th place with rounds of 72-76 (+4). Will Stakel (76-75, +7) and Kaleb Wilson (75-76, +7) are tied for 33rd place, while Trent Tipton is tied for 39th place (78-74, +8). Westy McCabe shot 84-78 (+18) for WVU. Kammann, Duncan, Thompson, Menard, Wilson and McCabe are competing as individuals.



One group in the field was not able to finish the second round due to darkness. They will conclude the second round at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The third and final round will begin with tee times, starting at 8:30 a.m.
