AN EXCERPT:

Something of note is the thickness of Howard’s frame. He said Thursday morning the scales read 208 pounds. It’s an issue because, in case you forgot, ex-WVU quarterback Clint Trickett was so battered last season he retired from the sport before the bowl game. The team’s quarterback was sacked 31 times last season — and the offensive line is trying to replace its two best players in Mark Glowinski and Quinton Spain.

Howard said he learned, though, from Trickett.

“I’ve been thinking [of how to avoid] taking as many shots,” Howard said. “I’ve been working on how to slide a little bit. That’s going to be an area of emphasis. We’re different players, but, mentally, I’ve learned a lot from Clint.”
