Good analysis of the officiating in the ladies game vs Iowa done by Brad Howe of Metro News. A comparison of FTAs which is a statistical analysis of FTs attempted divided by FGs attempted for a game. Here we go:
Iowa’s FTAs was 64% (season high). Their season average was 31%. Iowa made 25 of 30 FTs for 39% of its points in this game.
WVU’s FTA’s was 8% (season low). Our season average was 33%. WVU made 3 of 5 FTs for 5% of its points in this game.
So when Kellogg talked about it at the post game press conference he only referenced Q4 scoring which was even at 16 points each. But Iowa only made one basket from the floor while scoring 14 point from the FT line. We were actually hosed the whole game. Our ladies competed fiercely in spite of a hostile crowd, unfamiliar court, different time zone and yes totally biased referees.
Edit - I meant to include that Iowa was whistled for 11 fouls while WVU was whistled for 27! And they were not a team of nuns.
