No one knows except the leaders in the Big 10 and those at FSU.

Based on previous statements by Delaney, and other B1G officials, they are interested in AAU schools that are in contiguous states to existing Big 10 schools. They don't want travel concerns for the student athlete. There is some thought to making sure that existing schools would continue to play on a somewhat consistent basis.

If they added FSU then (or tried to) that would mean the B1G would need to add UVA, a school from North Carolina, and Georgia Tech to get to FSU. This would give the B1G 6 new mouths to feed and leave the league at an awkward number for football--18 for basketball. If each B1G school is making $25 million in payouts now as Forbes reported, that would mean these new schools would need to bring in $150 million per year in new revenues plus additional millions to offset disbursing bowl, NCAA and Rose Bowl payouts to 18 instead of 14 teams. They have a BTN and will redo their contract soon but that's alot of new money. If their projections to Maryland are right and the league will pay out $40 mil per school by 2017, that means the new schools need to be generating $240 million plus in new revenues each year.

FSU is not in the AAU and can't invite themselves into it. It is a private organization by invitation only. FSU's academics are similar to Nebraska's--which was kicked out of the AAU after joining the B1G. Many in the big 10 voiced concerns about adding such schools previously--it's very doubtful they'll toss out their academic requirements to add a school like FSU. Adding a football "power" even though FSU has dropped off, isn't as big a concern in a league with OSU, Michigan, and PSU, Nebraska and Wisconsin to a lesser degree.

Some talk about the distance to Iowa or Kansas for an FSU--imagine having to go to Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa every year--not exactly close.

With all that it is doubtful FSU is joining the B1G anytime soon.

Only if the Big 10 throws out educational distinction and geography

from their bylaws....FSU doesn't meet their requirements...now if it is all about the buck they may.
