Marshall back on TV whining about the pop tax and wanting a piece of the tax. Funny they don't mind that they take nearly 8 million tax dollars a year to keep their athletic depart afloat. Marshall has to have 28% of their athletic department subsidized by the WV taxpayers. WVU gets a subsidy of 0.04%(~$31,500)

Even with the charity to Moo athletics, they still lose money.

"With operating expenses of $73.5 million, WVU athletics finished the year with a revenue surplus of $4.2 million.

Marshall’s athletic department finished the year with a budget deficit of $749,834, with operating expenses of $28.33 million."

So their athletic department, without the propping up from the taxpayers, would lose nearly 9 million a year! I don't see the benefit this charity provides the citizens of WV. And, without the taxpayers, there would be no athletics at Marshall.

The taxpayers shouldn't be keeping Marshall athletics afloat. Sink or swim, but quit crying. They can't go from here to there without wanting something from WVU

Marshall's welfare checks should be cut off immediately. If they can't make it in pseudo-DIA on their own, they can go back to DIAA, where they belong. They may actually play a harder schedule that way.

State voters didn't get to vote on the exorbitant amount of forced funding of the Moo athletic department either. I think if they put the two fundings up to a state wide referendum (taxes.... WVpopTax to support R&D at the WVU hospital systems that benefit the entire state, and funding of Marshall athletics). Pretty sure which one would have the most support. One would pass (non tyrannical), the other would go down in flames.....
