Cherries...

just thought I would pass this along.

I started running in March after a loooong layoff and of course I overdid it a bit when my endurance started to pick up. My right knee started to swell and became very painful after a workout. Finally went to the doc in June and he gave me an Rx for Meloxicam, anti-arthritic. Swelling went away but the pain remained. I was having to wrap and apply a liniment to the knee before running. Last month I threw a some frozen cherries into a protein shake and the next morning the pain was gone. Didn't make the connection for a few days when the pain returned and couldn't figure out why. Through trial and error it seems that the cherries did the trick. I usually don't believe in so called miracle cures from food or natural medicines but just wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences along these lines. BTW...I quit the Meloxicam in August because it wasn't helping with the pain at all and I have continued with the running regiment throughout this time.
