NCAA mess: Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said the timing of the NCAA's botched probe into Miami athletics "couldn't be worse."
"It's
at a time when the association is trying to remake its enforcement
branch and is working in a general sense on credibility issues and
viability issues," Bowlsby said. "I think Mark Emmert has done an
excellent job in leading the organization, but he didn't need this
coming when it came. It's a major impediment to work around. The timing
is bad."
Can the NCAA recover, or will all future investigations be tainted?
"They can recover," Bowlsby said, "but it isn't going to be an overnight accomplishment."

The Big 12 spoke to television/media consultants regarding the
potential number of schools that could bring equal/more value to Big 12
if the league expanded. Answer? "Not very many," Bowlsby said.

The NCAA is a joke! They showed it when Ohio State was allowed to play a bowl game with a laundry list of infractions already proven and punishment was "delayed" until most of the guilty parties had graduated/left early. Letting UNC skate on outright cheating on grades, Auburn on pay for play with Cam Newton, and now Miami for every possible offense known to man just reniforces what most of us already thought about them. They play favorites and turn a blind eye when it is conveniont to certain schools. And outright allow cheating for others. While dropping the hammer on certain schools for lesser infractions (USC)! Inconsistent, irresponsible, jaded, elitist, bunch of idiots who think the public doesn't see them for what they really are! Succession with a clear set of rules and punishments for each offense is what is needed. To hell with these bunch of cheating favoritists. The major conferences would be better off without them!

The NCAA is the same that it has always been. They are going to do all they can to protect the schools they see as money makers.

When you look at the Miami situation, or Ohio State it's laughable. The NCAA delays these cases for the "money makers" as long as possible until most aren't interested anymore and then slaps the wrist of the offenders.

Schools like Miami and Ohio State should have more severe penalties than USC, but instead they pretended some buckeye games didn't happen -while letting them have two working coaching staffs so the new one could recruit and now, they didn't want to punish Miami but couldn't come up with a way to justify that, so they actually threw themselves under the bus so that they can excuse lessening the punishment--even the death penalty.

If WVU committed these offenses they would have been wiped out for years.
