Of teams in 2023 March Madness field WVU beat 3 seed Kansas State, 6 seed Iowa State, 6 seed TCU, 9 seed Auburn, 11 seed Pitt. Lost to 1 seed Kansas and Purdue, 2 seed Texas, 3 seed Baylor and Xavier.
So Mountaineers beat 5 March Madness teams, lost to 5 March Madness teams. But losses only to 1, 2 and 3 seeds. Victories over 3, two 6, 9 seed and 11 seeds.
So WVU is OK playing 4 seed or lower. Piece of cake.
Just have to get by Maryland and Alabama and the coast is clear till Elite Eight. If WVU plays the way it did late in season, it only takes winning 3 straight games to get to Elite Eight. In 1959 WVU lost in the title game by 1 point. WVU reached Final Four in 1959 and 2010. Sweet Sixteen in 2018, 2017, 2015, 2008.
